Kibber-Gette-Kibber-Kye-Kaza

In the morning we got up early. Five of us decided to go up till Gette, the highest village in the world.. there wasnt any road beyond Kibber and i was looking forward to the offroading in the soft dirt tracks..

Slowly as the road spiralled up the hill, we saw tracks in between the various spirals. The Karizmas could easily climb up them. I tried my hand at one and almost had to drag my bike up. Deepan captured this moment wonderfully. i am trying to take the shortcut and the other 2 bikes visible are Sandy and Nishant..

another pic showing us at different levels on the hill. i have highlighted the bikers..

Manik and me took the turn for Tashigang..

but we soon realised that there were no tyre tracks in that direction, so we turned around and went the other way..

we kept on riding for a long time and yet saw no sign of the Gette village. At one point we saw Sandy and Vivek returning. They told us that we had passed Gette and reached further up. so we turned around from here..

on the way back i decided to take the short cuts again. this was one of them..

it was so much fun that i was only taking the short cuts. instead of going around the hills, i was going downhill. on the way back also i missed Gette village and reached Kibber. But Vivek managed to spot it and here's the proof.. :)

After reaching Kibber, we packed our stuff and left for Kye Monastery. i was riding slow and was behind the rest. when i reached Kye i could not see others. so i stopped and as i was turning my bike on the slope,i heard someone calling my name. who else could it be but apne sandy bhaiya.. i looked up and lost balance. the bike started falling and i stopped it but could not hold long. it started getting heavier and finally i let go. cursing sandy i looked up again and what better time for a Kodak moment...

again after a lot of huffing and puffing and breathing hard due to lack of oxygen, i picked up my bike and joined others. posing with the monks of Kye..

after spending some time at the monastery we set out for Kaza. the plan was to have the breakfast at Kaza and reach Losar by the end of the day. After breakfast we saw that the Karizmas needed fuel. so we went to the only petrol pump in 200kms either side of Kaza which claims this..

out bikes standing in the line..

but as bad as the luck could be, the petrol pump was not functional and the guy had only a few litres of petrol. there was a maruti car also standing in the line and the petrol was just sufficient to fill the maruti or our bikes. we decided to sort the matter out in the old fashioned way. we had a toss and the winner got the petrol. again a stroke of bad luck and we lost!! so there we were stranded in Kaza where we spent that night..
