so we were on our way. a point on the other hill provided a good view of the Kye Monastery..

roads till Losar were good..

with some patches of bad ones..

and some waterfalls..

on the horizon i could see snow and kept on trying to guess which one of them was Kumzum La..

just before Losar..

/
as we reached Losar..

after Losar there werent any roads..

the terrain kept on changing between dirt and stones as we climbed towards Kumzum La..

and of course there were the streams due to melting ice..

finally i reached the top..

yup thats 14930 feet..

as we left the spitit valley..

climb downhill was even more treacherous. the dirt plus the water equals to bike slipping. after some slow progress we reached this point..

this was the cut for Chandertal, the route had been blocked by stones, meaning it wasnt yet open for public. this meant there was a chance it was not yet motorable. but having come so far, we decided to take a chance.. the experience of riding from this cut and back was such that i think it deserves a seperate page. So for the Chandertal encounter click on the link below
Chandertal: the daunting lake...
after the treacherous Chandertal ride we reached Batal as the sun was setting..

there is only one dhaba at Batal and this is the only place to stay/eat within probably 100kms on each side.. all around one could see the slow clad mountains and glaciers..

Distance tavelled in the day: 106kms
